The Burning Mountain

Ten bear engineers. Each one a specialist in a real engineering discipline. When the mountain burns, when the satellite goes silent, when the water rises, they don't wish their way out. They build their way out. That's the whole idea, and it's why every BFOE story carries the same line: engineering is the superpower.

It starts with books. The Burning Mountain is Book One of a series planned to run across two worlds: Earth, where volcanoes, earthquakes and floods test the team, and Space, where an orbital age is filling the sky with junk and ghosts. Book Two is already in beta with real families.

But the books are the first layer, not the whole. Every story becomes an animated series on our Stories channel. Every episode gets its making-of on the Workshop channel, where parents, teachers and makers watch the voices, artwork, music and animation come to life. Every technical term joins a living glossary that grows with the series. Classroom packs put the stories to work in schools.

BFOE was created by Martin Sansone and Jimmy Johnston MBE, a Glasgow technology teacher whose life's work has been showing children they could build their way out of trouble. This franchise is that work, given a bigger stage.
